So, you may have been wondering, “Who is a Music Booster Member”?
You may have wondered to yourself if you are a member of the Pacifica High School Music Boosters? Rest assured that if you are reading this, you are probably a member. If you have a student at Pacifica High School and he or she participates in Marching Band, Drumline, Color Guard, Orchestra or Jazz Club, and you are in fact reading this, you are an important member of a group of parent boosters that our kids depend on to support the Pacifica High School Music Program.
Not only are you a member, but you are a member in good standing. You are a member in good standing because you are standing…usually standing and waiting to pick up your student musician; standing to get your ticket to the competitions or standing to watch the half-time show at football games. In addition, you’re in good standing because you have made a commitment to your student to donate your talents, time and efforts to keep our kids competing at a championship level and providing them an opportunity to create memories they will cherish for a lifetime.
Well, we know there are skeptics out there, and maybe some are still not convinced they are a booster based solely on the two reasons given above. In order to provide undeniable proof we ask you to consider the following symptoms.
You are a Pacifica High School Music Booster if you:
· Have ear plugs for home use during practice time.
· Have extra violin strings around the house and due to fatigue start to walk your dog using
these strings as a leash.
· Have taken a sudden interest in high school football after weeks of enjoying the half-time
music your child has practiced so hard to perfect while you were wearing ear plugs at home.
· Heard about a sousaphone, tuba or baritone, but have no idea what they are.
· Spending quality time with your child as you participate together taking advantage of the many
fund raisers.
· Have flags flying all over your house, and the flags do not march your décor.
· Will be purchasing and using more black shoe polish than you ever believed was possible.
· Constantly buying things without any purpose but to support your students efforts to
succeed, needing things (like time) you don’t have and having things in your way that you
have little idea as to where they came from.
· Find yourself considering buying stock in companies that sell suntan lotion because you are awed at the
amount one group of kids can use in an 8 to 10 hour period.
· One calendar is no longer enough in order to keep track of all the games, competitions, meetings,
fundraisers, concerts, practices and trips.
By now you must be convinced you’re a Pacifica High School Music Booster. Now you can feel free to get involved in your students activities, be a part of their fun, enjoy their joy and help all of the parent boosters turn what seems on the surface to be work, into fun, excitement, adventure and uproarious laughter. But that isn’t all! You will be creating your own memorable times with other parent boosters, and most importantly share in an activity with your kids while they are still kids, at a time when some are beginning to pull away to begin their own march toward becoming adults.
