Volunteering
The success of the Marching Mariners and Auxiliary, Jazz, Orchestra or String ensembles are directly related to your contribution of time and effort in supporting their endeavors. Every June, the boosters lose dedicated volunteers that have helped make the challenges of that year easier for the students, our director and other parents. We encourage your participation for we need each and every one of you to become involved in our volunteering program at some level and there are many areas available, in front and behind the scenes. A brief overview…
Marching Mariners & Auxiliary: The volunteers for the band and auxiliary are truly the backbone of this organization and the majority of the volunteering is necessary at this time. Marching season can be very intense for there is much activity: band camp, night practice, football games, field shows and the logistics to keep these activities going is challenging. Remember, marching season is only a three month commitment. The time goes by quickly.
Fundraising: Volunteers will be needed to assume lead positions of various fundraisers that have been opened due to June graduation. Many of our fundraisers are seasonal, so time commitment will be minimal: 3-5 weeks is usual. The first Vice President in charge of Ways and Means will give full support as well as other volunteers that may be recruited to help you in this task. You will not be alone.
These are the two main aspects in which the music department needs volunteers, though there are other important areas as well. The details for the above and other volunteering opportunities will be shown and explained during the first band meeting of the year and the Board will ask for volunteers to fill the open positions at that time. Please step up to the challenge and help take on some of these rewarding tasks that keep the music department running smoothly. As always, feel free to contact any member of the board at any time of the year to discuss what area you would like to donate your time and effort to.
