                        2007 Fireworks Fundraiser  
 

2007 was my second year as co-chair of the PHS Music Boosters fireworks stand.  Last year was a challenge with the Knott Avenue off ramp closed and a few lighting problems with the stand.  This year had its share of problems too with another road closure making it nearly impossible for anyone to get to our stand for several hours one morning and a missing box of supplies to run the stand.  We persevered with the help and dedication of a all of the booster parents and a few who went the extra mile.

Rhonda Fry, our treasurer, was at the stand very often.  The fireworks fundraiser requires a big effort from the treasurer.  Everything from ensuring we have the right change, making deposits and keeping track of credit card receipts to filling out the end of sale paperwork, sales taxes and other special forms that help keep the profits high.  The treasurer is kept busy several days before the stand opens with pre-sale collections and works several days after the stand is closed doing the paperwork.  Thank you Rhonda!

Chuck and Rhonda Johnston were not able to be there in person but they were there not only in spirit but they left a part of themselves behind by letting us use their trailer.  Without their help this would not have been possible!  Thank you both!

Bob Cronin and his friend John came out to do security for us again this summer.  That is a really thankless job for which we cannot thank you enough!

Maria Burciaga, our president and co-chair.  I cannot say enough about her passion for the program, hard work and care about the kids.  She organized the pre-sale, coordinated with the pastor at the site, coordinated the "sleep over" with the help of several other parents in addition to spending many hours in the stand.  Maria, we could not have done this without you.  THANK YOU for another great year!

As was the case last year, the fireworks stand took me away from my family.  I once again extend a very special thank you to my wife and family who tolerated my absence during this time of the year usually reserved for gatherings of family and friends.
